Loving yourself feels almost impossible as we grow. As each day passes, a new type of body, look, or outfit is trending, making it feel impossible to keep up. This makes appreciating yourself difficult as there is always another “better” thing to compare yourself to. We find it’s easy to say, ‘we do not have to live like this.’
‘Loving yourself’ is a concept we have deemed as too difficult or just for those who ‘have their life together,’ which strays away from the actual simplicity of the act.
Loving yourself does not have to be so complicated: Take away comparison and challenge yourself to learn that you were given your life to live for yourself and the capability to act inside of yourself. The act of showing up for yourself on the days you do not feel your best and reminding yourself you are beautiful.
It’s the simplicity of taking a morning walk just because it makes your body feel good, knowing the last thing you want to do is push yourself for one more night, writing positive reminders to wake up to every day on your desk. It can even look like breaking your budget to get yourself a new top for next weekend just because it makes you happy. We must emphasize the importance of embracing your small wins even if there is still work left to be done. Finding the grace to prioritize your friends that uplift you, and setting boundaries where you need to.
Finding self-love is not a simple task at first. Loving yourself can become a daily part of your life, a practice, habit, and a mindset that anyone can cultivate.
