I used to be one of those people– the person whose friends always told them about how amazing journaling was for them; how it was a safe space to let out whatever thoughts or emotions they had. I was the one who, no matter what issues I was having, refused to actually talk about it.
I always resented the “journalers” of the world and labeled them Carrie Bradshaw and Bridget Jones wannabes… until I slowly-but surely-morphed into one.
It started as an experiment: just a few sentences here and there, scribbled in an old composition book collecting dust on my shelf. Suddenly, I wasn’t just recording my day-to-day life; I was exploring my thoughts, unpacking my feelings and genuinely getting to know myself on a deeper level.
Journaling became my personal sanctuary. When I write, I don’t have to worry about judgment or expectations- it’s just me with my thoughts. I can write about my good days and the funny moments with my friends, and I can also write about my heartbreaks, challenges and frustrations without the fear of being misunderstood.
It’s helped me process my emotions and make sense of any chaos within my life.
Nothing is stopping you from doing the same. Journaling is a practice of self-care and a gentle reminder to slow down and reconnect with ourselves
So, pick up a pen and start writing!
