UPinion: Everyone Should Be Playing Pickleball

By Addison Ellis

No matter when you go to the pickleball courts, people of all ages will be there chatting, listening to music, and enjoying each other’s company. With more and more people playing the game, pickleball is not only the fastest-growing sport in America but also a sport everyone needs to play.

The intense competition and cheerful camaraderie create an environment that is hard to find anywhere else. With simple rules that make it easy to understand, almost anyone can learn the game in minutes.

However, the best aspect of pickleball is not the quick-to-learn rules but the lively environment it offers. Strangers can approach you, asking to play, allowing you to forge new connections with those around you. Playing pickleball is one of the best ways to meet new people and have a blast while doing it!

As you hit the ball back and forth, it becomes easy to get lost in the game’s calming rhythm. All skill levels are welcome, making it a great way to get a workout and spend time outdoors. Unlike most sports, pickleball is affordable. Public courts are widely available for everyone, and the equipment consists of only a paddle and a ball, which can be purchased for less than 30 dollars. If you are new to the sport, there are a ton of local tournaments and pickleball clubs you can join as well! In Oxford, Miami League Pickleball  and The Pickleball Club are great options to check out.

When looking to get involved, pickleball’s unique blend of fun, exercise, and friendship offers experiences everyone should embrace.
