If you are looking for an autumn getaway full of beautiful foliage, seasonal activities, and amazing food, Boston is definitely the place for you. While there are perks to each season in this city, Boston in autumn is unmatched. If New England’s colored leaves spark your interest, the best time to visit is the third and fourth week of October, when the reds, oranges, and yellows are their most vibrant. Paired with the city’s red-brick architecture and the Boston Harbor, it truly is a magical place. Enjoy the vibrant hues at spots like The Esplanade along the Charles River or the Boston Public Garden.
Once you are in Boston, there are many autumn activities to fill your time. For those in the mood for Boston’s spooky side, try the Ghosts and Gravestones Tour, which takes you through some of Boston’s oldest graveyards and most haunted locations in the city. For a more wholesome outing, consider apple picking at one of the many farms and orchards located just outside of the city. At the Belkin Family Lookout Farm, visitors can explore 180 scenic acres full of a variety of apples and enjoy New England favorites at the Lookout restaurant.

If Boston’s cuisine is what brings you to the city, expect to be wowed. Start with a unique sandwich at Cafe Beatrice, where you can try options like the Pumpkin Grilled Cheese and Maple Kouign Amann. For an autumn-inspired coffee, head to Union Square’s Juliet, which offers seasonal beverages such as a Pumpkin Spice Latte or a Salted Maple Latte. Lastly, for an end-of-the-day sweet treat, visit the Inman Square staple called Christina’s Ice Cream for their gourmet flavors such as Pumpkin or Mulling Spice, a combination of cinnamon, allspice, clove and orange peel.
