Rising pop star Gracie Abrams released the deluxe version of her album, “The Secret of Us,” on Oct. 18. The album has been a hit for its raw emotional depth and relatability. Abrams often draws from personal emotions and events she has witnessed, allowing listeners to appreciate not only the catchy melodies but also the deeper meaning behind each song.
Abrams does this by keeping a journal. She uses the entries as inspiration for whatever music she is currently working on to implement relatability into her work so she can build a deeper connection with her listeners.
Furthermore, Abrams loves to touch on the complexities of relationships and feelings like in her popular song “I Love You, I’m Sorry” which highlights the internal struggle of loving someone even though they are not fit for each other.
Abrams began releasing music in 2019 after taking time off from school to focus on her career. Since then, she has opened for artists including Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo and has been featured on songs with musicians like Noah Kahan. Last year marked her first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, and she was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2023.
Even though Abrams' music is sensational, her distinct sense of style has added an internet star to her resume. Abrams can typically be found in a more relaxed look with straightener silhouettes such as straight-leg baggy jeans with a cropped form-fitting long sleeve. She typically sticks to a more neutral color pallet while playing around with different textures and layers. For example, she performed in a white, long, sheer, lace dress that appears to have a multitude of dimensions and textures.
In all, her authenticity, relatability, and craftsmanship are the secret behind Gracie Abrams's rising success.
