There’s nothing better than Disney Channel original shows and movies from when we were growing up. Movies such as “High School Musical,” “Camp Rock,” “Lemonade Mouth,” and shows such as “Hannah Montana,” “Good Luck Charlie,” and “Jessie” were all fan favorites. But one show in particular was liked by most: “Wizards of Waverly Place.” This show first aired in 2007 and featured Selena Gomez, David Henrie, and Jake T. Austin as the iconic sibling trio, Alex, Justin, and Max Russo, respectively. The show primarily follows the kids growing and training with their magic while keeping it a secret from the rest of the world. The Russo parents own a sandwich shop designed to look like a New York City subway station, and they are focused on putting magic in the past. However, this doesn’t stop the Russo kids from using it, especially Alex, who continues to rely on magic in her everyday life, while Justin is the rule follower, and Max ends up caught in the middle. The show ran for a total of four seasons, ending in 2012, with the actors going their separate ways. Little did they know that it wasn’t over for them yet.

This past week marked the debut of the reboot/sequel for fans worldwide. “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” features the iconic characters once again, helping new ones with their magic. Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, is a young wizard seeking help with her training, which she finds with Justin Russo. Although Justin moved on to live a normal life as an assistant vice principal, he continues to assist her. Alex Russo even makes an appearance as well. This show is ideal for viewers wanting a mix of nostalgia and Halloween spookiness. The first nine episodes are available to stream on Disney+, with more potentially releasing weekly. Disney has once again provided Gen Z with a nostalgic reboot, featuring iconic characters and the classic song “Everything Is Not What It Seems,” sung by Selena Gomez and Brown!
