RedHawk Radio features several podcasts filled with a plethora of topics. Senior Dan Pierotti hosts “Are you Experienced?” every Friday at 2 p.m. This musical podcast features Pierotti and guests playing Rock n Roll music from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s and stories to go along with it.
Music from all decades define different periods. Music can add to any personal experience and Pierotti uses “Are You Experienced?” to reinforce how some music stands the test of time. When asked how music of that area fits in our lives now, Pierotti responded with “Music is super unique because every new artist gains inspiration from multiple artists before them. So, the music that is released today has some roots from the music of these eras.” By blurring the lines between the gap of time, music becomes a celebration of shared experiences.
Pierotti also dives into how music contributes to individual experience saying, “I think music is so important because we utilize it in so many different moods.” With his guests, he shows how music can relate to personal time with another person or place.
“When you hear a song, you can typically relate it to a specific person or experience. It can be a way to connect and bond with other people” he said.
Like society, music is always developing and changing. Pierotti does an excellent job of integrating old music with current changes and relating it back to experiences. Get experienced and tune into “Are you Experienced?” Fridays at 2 p.m.
