What are those movies that make you fall in love with falling out of love? Although we all enjoy rom-coms, sometimes you need those hard-hitting movies that reassure you that everything will be okay through a tough breakup. We’ve all been there. So, what are the greatest hits for a night in with your favorite snacks and friends after your latest breakup?
How To Be Single (For those of you getting out of a long term relationship)
This classic movie featuring Dakota Johnson follows her journey of being single in New York City after graduating college and realizing she has never really been alone—whether raised by her parents or in a romantic relationship. Although being single can be one of the scariest experiences, Johnson’s character shows that being single at some point is essential, as it’s a chance to learn about ourselves and clarify what we want from life. This film is perfect for those getting out of a long-term relationship. Sometimes we feel like we lose part of ourselves in a relationship, and taking time to refocus and rediscover who we are can be one of the most beautiful things.
It Ends With Us (For everyone, we all deserve to love ourselves and be loved)
This 2024 summer hit, starring Blake Lively, explores the meaning of toxic love and shows the importance of taking a step back to assess how a relationship affects you and those you love. Lively’s character initially believes she’s found the love of her life, the "perfect" man, but later experiences abuse. This movie is powerful and profound, as many people can relate to relationships that are both loving and toxic.
