Movie Night Essentials

By Kerrigan Moore

Now that there’s finally a chilly bite in the October air, the temptation to stay inside and curl up in front of a TV is tempting. I, for one, have been scouring Pinterest for the perfect items to make my fall movie nights feel like a Hallmark film.

Seasonal Snacks

Popcorn is the obvious choice, but why not spice our food options up a bit? No movie night is complete without tasty treats! Embrace the flavors of fall with snacks like caramel popcorn, pumpkin spice cookies, or warm apple cider. For a healthier twist, prepare a platter of sliced apples with a cinnamon yogurt dip. These snacks will keep everyone satisfied and in the fall spirit. Or, you can take elevated inspiration from Pinterest and make your own, cheesy-goodness charcuterie board.

Comfy… everything

Nothing says “movie night” like curling up under a soft blanket. Or on a huge beanbag. Or on your favorite recliner, or your bed, or your floor! Blankets, of course, are a must-have; opt for oversized throws that are perfect for snuggling or even a fun, festive blanket featuring autumn motifs. This not only adds warmth but also sets the mood for a cozy atmosphere. Throw on your favorite festive pajamas and get crunching on that popcorn!

Curated Movie List

Choose a mix of classics and new releases to keep everyone entertained. Think cozy rom-coms, spooky thrillers, or nostalgic favorites that evoke the essence of autumn. Don’t forget to set up that comfy viewing area, complete with pillows and dim lighting to enhance the experience. My personal favorite? It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Bonus Tip: Create a themed playlist to play before the movie starts. Think soft acoustic tunes or classic fall anthems to get everyone in the mood. Bon Iver, Hozier, Gregory Alan Isakov… you get the point.

With these essentials, your fall movie night will be a memorable gathering filled with laughter, warmth, and great films. So grab your blankets, make those snacks, and get ready for a cozy night in!
