Is Less More? Exploring Minimal Makeup

By Chloe Emberton

The style of minimalist makeup has been timeless. There is an abundance of tutorials online, ranging from skincare advice to product recommendations. The makeup style can be attributed to a moisturizing lotion and serum, a light yet long-wear foundation and neutral eye products.

The look has gained popularity as it can be easily achieved with drugstore products. Currently, a popular skincare line on the market is La Roche-Posay. The brand features many serums and lotions including the Toleriane Double Repair Facial Moisturizer and the Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The Ordinary is another renowned skincare brand that has gained popularity in recent years. A few of their facial products include the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum and the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, which is well-known for its red coloring.

Tarte and E.L.F. Cosmetics are two of my favorite brands for makeup. The Shape Tape Concealer is an extremely dependable concealer as it is close to full coverage and long-wear. It also features a range of tones, so that one can find their perfect match. The Shape Tape Concealer is perfect as a minimal product as it provides coverage, yet is not cakey. The E.L.F. Cosmetics Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand and powder blush are two pigmented blushes to add after concealer for a radiant look. I also love the Brow Lift brow gel, and the Bite-Size Eyeshadow can be used in a pinch when giving yourself a fresh pick-me-up.

Drugstore makeup products are perfect for achieving your desired look with minimal products. Next time you are looking for your next moisturizer or cream eyeshadow, look no further than your local drugstore!
