I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing charcuterie boards everywhere. This food trend has been blowing up my social media feeds, and I’ve been dying to at least try it out without failing miserably.

As I was scrolling through Pinterest to find the perfect Halloween costume for my roommate and me, I came across a “spooky” charcuterie board and I knew I just had to try it. With Halloween just around the corner and things looking a bit different this year because of COVID, I felt like this would be the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Here’s how it went and how you can create your own!

My first obstacle was figuring out the layout of my board. While I got a lot of the same candies and cookies that are on the example board, I also added my own twist with some of my personal favorite Halloween treats. Additionally, I knew mine would look a bit different considering I had a circular board instead of a rectangular one.

First, I placed my pumpkins and tiny trick-or-treat bucket on the plate. I added the cookies on either side surrounding the pumpkins, which took a while to make them look perfect. From there, I carefully placed the animal crackers, the pretzels, and the gummy worms to look semi-presentable. Last but not least, I added some plastic spiders for flare.

Easy enough, but very time-consuming considering I placed every item ever-so-carefully to make the platter look aesthetically pleasing. My biggest tip would be to use the largest platter/board you can find and make it your own by using your favorite Halloween treats and candies!

Considering I had limited resources (#dormlife), I think the board turned out pretty cute! Not necessarily Pinterest-perfect but still yummy and a great way to get into the holiday spirit!
