As the end of the spring semester comes to a close, everyone is wrapping up their classes, preparing to move out. But we forget, even as tiring as school is, that we are also leaving behind a place we’ve grown to love—we are leaving our friends, our little Oxford bubble, and the simple day-to-day things and independence we soon have to part with.

I’ve realized that all the times I’ve complained about my homework or wanting to go home because it’s easy, I forget how amazing it is to live here. From my own experience, here are the best ways to soak up these last few moments at college before heading back home for the summer.

Go Outside

As the weather warms up, you not only get new study spots that make homework that much easier, but you also get the chance to soak up the sun! Make your new thing going on a walk with friends to enjoy the weather—maybe even walk uptown and get a snack. Not only is it a great way to get active, but you can also make it more fun by going to your favorite places.

Workout Classes

Not only does the rec center have great and fun classes you can take with your friends for cheap prices or with your workout passes, but Fitness on High just opened uptown! Want to get back into your favorite Pilates or yoga classes? Try it here! Getting your body moving not only boosts your mood, but it gives you a new hobby to look forward to with friends.

Picnics

Grab your favorite food and your friends, lay a blanket out in your quad or front yard, and it’s guaranteed to make the perfect night. Make sure each friend brings their favorite snacks, too, and you’re going to have an even better time. The more food and friends you invite, the better! Don’t forget a speaker.

Movie Nights

Designating one night every week for your friends and you to watch your favorite movie or show together is such a fun way to get together and enjoy each other’s company. You’ll look forward to it every week, and it will make those long days of class that much more tolerable.
