No matter where your late-night destination is, the right bar shoes are there to support you on your journey. Some key criteria for a great pair include comfort, a neutral color, on-trend style and durability. But what goes into picking a fashionable shoe you know will get stained, scuffed and stepped on?

Over the past weekend, I asked many about their footwear and why they chose it. While there were a few repeats, I found a diverse range of shoes. Yet one thing remained constant—a deep appreciation for their personal choice. Here are some standout picks, in no particular order.

Leading the pack in comfort is the New Balance - 574 Core. While often characterized as the “dad” shoe, its resurgence in street fashion is undeniable. Blending suede and mesh, the shoe has a casual athletic edge that works for everyone. Though it may not be the most stylish on this list, its practicality and already-weathered look make it a go-to choice that doesn’t sacrifice style for comfort.

A personal favorite from my own experience (four years and counting!) is the Nike - Killshot 2 Men's or Women's. The shoe is a perfect blend of retro and modern, with its cream look, iconic swoosh, leather composition, vintage gum sole and suede toe. Available in different colorways, the design can be subtly customized, whether it's the logo or the leather. It’s a timeless choice that still leaves room to get a little dirty.

No list would be complete without mentioning the Adidas - Stan Smith. A staple of the brand's classic line, the Stan Smith embodies simplicity and style. Endorsed by the tennis legend himself, his signature illustration rests on the tongue of the shoe in bright green—a fitting choice for an upcoming campus holiday. These sturdy leathers, dotted with the three stripes, can withstand the trials and tribulations of a long night out and have done so for decades.

A rarer find but still classic is the Reebok - Club C 85. Known for its cream leather and Union Jack following the logo, the shoe offers more pop and chicness compared to some of the other classics mentioned above. Its minimalist design makes it easy to pair with a variety of outfits, and its durable build can handle whatever the night throws its way.

The On Cloud - THE ROGER Advantage Men's or Women's provides a more modern look than the other shoes on this list. Mixing mesh and leather, the shoe offers a sporty style that embodies both comfort and sleekness. With a Swiss-engineered cushioned sole, it delivers innovative comfort fit for a long night out.

The most important thing about picking a bar shoe is making it work for you. Every pair has a story—old reliable or a new addition ready to make its mark. Style, comfort and durability all play their role, but ultimately, the best choice is the one that fits your personality and lifestyle.
