From amazing street style to brand new runway looks, New York Fashion Week always has an incredible allure. Paparazzi line streets and venues waiting for A-list celebrities and fashion gurus to walk by, just hoping to capture the one image that spirals into this season's hot, new trend. As viewers looking in, however, we may not truly know what NYFW actually looks like. From runways, showrooms, social media events and more, I am here to give you all the details on NYFW.
Starting with shows and presentations, designers move increasingly more out of the box with each new location. This past week, a Proenza Schouler show took place at the Chelsea Factory on West 26th Street. Designers and their teams work strategically to present their collections in an atmosphere that is complementary to their designs.
During NYFW there is no time for sleep; it is showrooms and runways all day and then dinners and after-parties all night. In some ways, these events are just as important and largely attended as the designers’ collection releases. It is not uncommon for big names in the singing industry to be called into the action.
This year, Chanel marked their new Fifth Avenue Boutique as “the place to be” with a memorable guest performance from rising singer Gracie Abrams. Also, while the majority of the U.S. found themselves in front of the television watching the Super Bowl this past Sunday, the “it-girls” of New York City had other plans. Maude Apatow from HBO’s Euphoria hosted a cocktail party at the Manhattan Holiday Bar in celebration of the Mejuri x GANNI collaboration.
So, after all that we have learned today, it is safe to say that during NYFW, New York City definitely lives up to its title as “the city that never sleeps."
