Every college girls' ideal breakfast: avocado toast.
Avocado toast has become a huge staple and we are way past the simple days of plain avocado on a piece of toast, considering how frequently we are consuming it. Every day I feel like I am brainstorming new ways to make my avocado toast so that I don’t grow sick of it. Here are five delicious ways to upgrade your avocado toast.
1. The Everything Bagel Avocado Toast
This is my personal favorite. The first step is purchasing Everything But the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joes. Once you try it, I can guarantee that you will never let a day pass without it in your pantry ever again. Once secured, smear your toasted bread (Pumpernickel Rye and Ezekiel are my personal faves) with cream cheese, avocado, a dense layer of EBTB seasoning and top it off with lemon pepper.
2. Tomato Feta Avocado Toast
Flavorful and delicious. Chop up cherry tomatoes and put them on your avocado toast with a layer of feta cheese and black pepper over top. Yum!
3. Strawberry Season Avocado Toast
This is definitely best eaten in the summer; however, it's still the early days of fall so I would give it a go while you still have the chance. Complete this toast with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, basil if you have it, and you're good to go. Pro tip: Raspberries make a great choice as well.
4. Bacon Goat Cheese Avocado Toast
Add a little extra protein to this toast with crumbles of cooked bacon. Top if off with a handful of fresh goat cheese and if you are feeling bold a fried egg would make a great addition.
5. Chips & Salsa Avocado Toast
Who would’ve thought chips and salsa could make its way onto avocado toast? Well, here you go! This is the perfect opportunity to utilize your last bit of tortilla chips before they go bad. Drizzle a bit of spicy salsa over your avocado toast, and then top with crushed chips.
